Frequently Asked Questions

HI JAC Leashes

You say potato, I say pawtato! We use both because some people say leash and some say lead, and we want to make sure we cater to everyone.

Our leash handles are made from 100% recycled plastic shampoo bottles collected from the Sustainable Salons network of salons across Australia. Our leash rope is made from 100% recycled PET bottles (rPET).

No two of our handles look the same (like ever!) and that's the way we like it. The recipe for each handle colour is consistent but how the recycled plastic forms in our production process means the chunks, swirls, splats and splotches of colour form uniquely in each handle.

Our dog (or cat!) leash handles are made one size fits all - made to fit all human hands great and small.

We have a standard leash length and a long leash length.

Standard leash (including handle): 1.25m (1.4yd)

Long leash (including handle): 1.75m (1.9yd)

Rope breaking force: 285KG (628lb) minimum

Leash weight: 211g (7.4oz) approximately

For now, yes. But we have big plans to Rethink, Reuse, Recycle and Re-imagine to create more edgy-eco pet accessories. Most important to us is you, your pets and that we Play nice with the Planet®.

Warranty and Returns

Sometimes things don't go as planned. In the unlikely event your item is damaged, defective or you receive the wrong item, we have a 30 day return policy. For more details, visit out Customer Care page.

We are confident you will love your leash for life and it will last forever, so we offer a lifetime guarantee. If your leash breaks through normal wear and tear during its lifetime, you can return it to us and we will replace it. It will enter our 'Bite Back' scheme and be reused, repurposed or recycled to stop it entering the waste stream.

Sustainable Practices

Our leash handles and ropes are made from 100% post-consumer plastic, and we offer an anytime 'Bite Back' scheme. We encourage you to return your used leashes to us so we can re-gift, re-purpose or recycle the entire leash to avoid them entering the waste stream.

We believe recycling plastic is one tool in the toolkit to divert plastic from landfills and oceans whilst the bigger picture movement to address our plastic polluted planet is in motion.

Our parcels are proudly 'no frills'. Limited and recycled packaging is another way we Play nice with the Planet®.  Your lead(s) will have a tag and be shipped in a 'no frills' parcel, both of which are sustainable (made from recycled material and recyclable).

We use Black Rainbow sustainable printing for our tags because Black Rainbow printed products are biodegradable and compostable, printed using non-toxic inks, recycled paper and solar power.  They walk the walk and we like it!

Our signature leash handles are genuinely unique. There isn't another leash like them nor are any two alike. We Play nice with the Planet® and revel in the unconventional.

We happily play ball with 1% for the Planet, donating 1% of our sales to environmental initiatives to unify with other like minded businesses and individuals who echo our 'eco'.
